Custom Color Matching
Kerox has state-of-the-art spectrophotometers to measure color.  We use these instruments and our extensive color formulation and databases to custom color match any color.  Color matching at Kerox is a combination of both science and experience.
Customers who need custom colors can send us a sample and we can formulate a closely matching Pigment.  Proper samples will ensure that the colors are formulated correctly.  Please use the following guidelines when submitting samples.

Indicate whether color should be matched to a wet paste or a solid casting.
If matched to a solid casting, please provide a sample of the resin used, along with any fillers used.
Mark the sample for identification.
Send all samples to our Corporate Office and Production Plant.
Indicate your requirement for the custom color.

Basics of Color Measurement
The most popular measurement for color is the L-a-b value.  L = 0 indicates a Black hue and L=100 a White hue.  The +a scale measures the red hue and -a scale a green hue.  The +b scale measures a yellow hue an -b scale a blue hue.
Every batch of Kerox Pigments is QC tested and we measure the L-a-b value and the color spectrum.  L-a-b values from a batch is compared with the L-a-b value of a standard reference sample.  The root mean squared difference is computed between the two measurements and this is called the ΔE (delta-E).  If the ΔE is less than 2, the batch is considered QC passed.

Tests and Analysis
We have an impressive Instrumental Analysis Lab and a Chemical Analysis Lab.  Through our 35+ years of R&D and QC in the areas of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering we have amassed numerous Test and Analytical Procedures.  We offer the following services to our customers.

Viscosity measurement of polyester and epoxy resins using the Brookfield Viscometer.
Computerized Auto-Titration of chemical solutions using Potentiometric methods.
Measurements of color spectrum and computation of ΔE and L-a-b values using Spectrophotometers.
Detection of heavy metals such as lead and chromium in color samples.
Customized QC test reports for our products.
Determination of Acid Value in Polyester Resins.
Determination of Active Oxygen and Peroxide content in MEKP.
Determination of % of cobalt metal in Accelerators.
Determination of dry solid content in commercial pigments.
Gel Test Analysis of MEKP.
Determination of water contamination in MEKP.

Other Services
We can custom formulate polyester and epoxy pigment dispersions to meet your performance needs.  For example, we can design pigment dispersions to meet regulatory requirements in food grade applications, chemical applications, or to comply with OSHA/EPA regulations.
